Michael May is driving research at Siemens in data analytics, machine learning and big data architectures and is responsible for eleven research groups in Europe, US, and Asia. Michael. In the last two years he was responsible for creating the Sinalytics platform for Big Data applications across Siemens’ business. Before joining Siemens in 2013, Michael was Head of the Knowledge Discovery Department at the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems in Bonn, Germany.
Artur Perchel is managing all of UITP’s operations and activities in Central Eastern European countries and in Israel. Before joining the organisation at the end of 2012 he gained public affairs and corporate experience from London-based research consultancy ComRes and Brussels-based trade association AmCham Belgium. Prior to this, Artur worked as a PhD Researcher at Ghent University.
Arno Siebes is Professor of Large Distributed Databases at the Institute for Informatics and Information Sciences at the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics at the Utrecht University. His research focuses on databases and data mining. Arno Siebes' group focusses on the theory and algorithmics of the extraction of information from data. In particular, the research concentrates on the algorithmic questions in designing information systems that have to deal with large, and ever more quickly growing, amounts of data.
Robert N. Shorten is currently jointly employed by IBM Research and as a Professor of Control Engineering and Decision Science at University College Dublin. His research spans a number of areas. He has been active in computer networking, automotive research, collaborative mobility (including smart transportation and electric vehicles), as well as basic control theory and linear algebra. His main field of theoretical research has been the study of hybrid dynamical systems.
